WHAT IS REIKI?
REIKI (pronounced ray-key) is a natural healing art. REI is a Japanese word that means “Universal Life Energy,” and KI means “Life Force Energy”. In Sanskrit it's known as Prana, in Chinese as Chi. Reiki involves no religion, dogma or system of belief, and requires no special state of being.
When activated, it addresses body, mind and spirit, accelerating one's ability to heal one's self or others. The body is reminded of its ability to heal physical ailments, the mind opened to the causes of disease, and the spirit to the opportunity of taking responsibility for one's life and the joys of balanced wellness.
Reiki puts the body into a state of deep relaxation, which triggers the Para-Sympathetic Nervous System. This system is responsible for the rejuvenation and regeneration of all cell life in the entire body.
Reiki therapy is safe and non-invasive, and is practiced in such varied places as spas, wellness centers, pediatric, neonatal and OB/GYN units, operating and emergency rooms as well as in veterinary hospitals. It facilitates relaxation and recovery and decreases anxiety and pain. It can be a helpful addition to conventional therapy in the case of chronic illness.
This ancient hands-on healing modality is now being practiced throughout the world. Reiki is experienced through the hands as a powerful yet unobtrusive flow of healing energy and can be learned by anyone.
